I am the webmaster of a local website. The small station Daye Fengyun.com has been officially operational for almost two years. In the past two years, we have experienced various hardships such as data loss, server freezes, domain name changes, etc., but in the end we have persisted until now and have become the most popular and influential local website. In 2009, our website activities were logged more than 20 times Get in local newspapers, TV stations and even provincial newspapers. Offline, we have also formed a team consisting mainly of bicycles, volunteers, and self-driving clubs. We also maintain good cooperative relationships with some local government departments, social groups, and enterprises.
Although we are not yet profitable, I believe we are not too far away from this goal. The process of building a website is very difficult, because in a third-tier city in central China like us, there is no good success model to learn from. We basically cross the river by feeling for the stones, taking many detours and making many mistakes. Although there are many very enthusiastic netizens and friends around me to help. However, webmasters all know that the goals and ideas of a webmaster are very different from those of a non-webmaster.
In the past two years, I have basically been operating independently, and it is difficult for me to have in-depth exchanges with friends who are close to my own way of thinking or who complement me. I often go to A5 or other webmaster websites to learn experience, but there are too many soft articles that are soft for the sake of being soft, and it is difficult to have in-depth communication. I have joined several groups of webmasters, but friends who are involved in forums know that there is a big difference between communication in forums and communication in groups. China’s Internet has developed for more than ten years, but the rise of local websites has also been in recent years. Many local websites represented by Hualong Lane have achieved success, but more local websites are still struggling. I have always believed that there are differences between building local websites and building other types of websites. Very different.
Other types of websites can achieve success through SEO, promotion, etc., but local websites need to plan, operate, organize offline activities, and establish good social relations to develop and grow. Therefore, webmasters who are proficient in technology or SEO may not necessarily be able to make good local websites. Local websites have very high requirements for the personal qualities and abilities of webmasters. Relying solely on their own abilities, many people feel that they have more than enough to do.
I think local webmasters need to work together, communicate, and share. Because everyone can be a friend except local competitors. There is no conflict of interest between each other, we can cooperate with each other and grow together. I have exchanged this idea with several webmasters of the webmaster network, hoping that they can increase the space for local website exchanges in their forums. But they were all declined. Because the development of local websites has indeed not become mainstream now, but precisely because it has not become mainstream, it is also an opportunity for the majority of local website webmasters.
I thought about setting up a separate communication platform for local webmasters, but I also knew that my ability alone was far from enough. At the end of last year, I attended the Hubei Webmaster Conference and got to know the China Dolls of Wuhan Webmaster Station. I heard him introduce it a few days ago that Mr. Qian of Hualong Lane has established a communication platform for local websites - Qisheng.com. I got an invitation code and joined. Qisheng.com is an online platform dedicated to cultivating local websites. Although this forum has just been established, I believe it will become an incubator for local websites in China in the future.
I just applied to be a moderator of the activity sharing board. Because Daye Fengyun.com has always been characterized by offline activities, I have some experience in organizing activities. I hope to share and communicate with you on Qisheng.com. I will also write down some of my experiences, lessons and insights one after another. This article can be regarded as a preface.
Finally, I wish all local websites have great development in the new year!
