I have been studying SEO for the past six months and accepted an e-commerce website. After half a year, I have mixed feelings. When I first got in touch, I was very motivated and very interested. Especially in the past few months, I watched the rankings continue to rise, the keywords continued to increase, and the traffic continued to increase. My inner joy was unparalleled.
The Baidu earthquake in June affected many websites, but my website ranking was still stable, so I started to take SEO seriously. In my mind, SEO is nothing more than internal links + external links + original content + friendly code. But in July, the ranking of the main keyword began to be unstable. First, it kept fluctuating on the Baidu homepage. In the past week or so, it began to fluctuate on the top five search pages. After more than a week of research and hard work, and this situation continues to this day, I realized that there was a problem with my understanding of SEO.
I have read a lot of articles in the past two days, sorted out my thoughts, and came up with some ideas on how to stabilize and improve keyword rankings. There may be mistakes in my opinion, and I hope everyone can correct them. (The title, domain name, server, keyword density, code optimization, etc. that affect keyword ranking are not discussed in this article.)
First: Original content closely follows the main keywords
After the Baidu earthquake in June, what everyone discussed the most was that Baidu’s ranking mechanism began to move closer to user experience. User experience is based on the design of the website on the one hand, and the content of the website on the other. I am not an art or technical person, so I can't give you much advice here, so I'll just talk about the content. Everyone knew in the past that search engines pay attention to originality and are friendly to originality. There is no doubt about this. However, many SEOers still complain that every article I write is original, so why the keyword ranking is still not high. In the past, the ranking was stable, but I did not do any research on it. Recently, the ranking has fluctuated. After research, I believe that the reason why the ranking is not high or will decline is related to whether the original content is closely related to the main keywords.
The main word of the author's website "Biancui.com" is Bianstone. Most of the articles on the previous website were related to Bianstone. Basically, every article either has a title or content, and Bianstone appears several times. Around April and May, I discovered two long-tail words: the method of scraping and the benefits of scraping (the website sells stone scraping boards). As a result, the articles updated every day began to move closer to Gua Sha, and meteorites almost no longer appeared in the articles. Hence, the current mixture of joy and sorrow. Fortunately, the method of scraping is ranked first, and the benefits of scraping are among the top three. Many other keywords related to scraping have good rankings. But sadly, there are ranking problems with the main keyword "Bianstone" and some other words related to Bianstone. The author believes that after the adjustment in June, the impact of the relevance of website content on rankings has once again been improved. So the next thing the author is going to do is to increase the update of articles related to meteorite. After all, the website is for meteorite, and improving the ranking of meteorite is the top priority. Maybe the rankings have improved in the past, and we can vigorously explore other long-tail words and update articles with long-tail words. But now Baidu's rules have changed. In the future, when updating original articles, you still need to focus on the main keywords. In other words, at least 80% of the content of the website must be closely related to the main keywords, so that the ranking of the main keywords will steadily and slowly improve.
Second: Strengthen internal links, but in moderation
It is well known that moderate internal links are important for keyword ranking. But not everyone knows how to grasp the degree of internal linking. After personal testing, the author came to the following conclusions: (1) When there is no ranking, with spiders as the center, all relevant articles can be linked internally. In the article content, directly add the keyword anchor chain; if the keyword cannot reasonably appear in the content, add this article in the recommended reading and related reading positions on the right or below. As long as there are enough entrances to this article, the weight of the article will naturally be high. The greater the number of anchor chains, the better the ranking for anchor chain keywords. For example, the title of my article on how to do scraping is "What are the methods of scraping?" For any article related to Gua Sha, if the word "Gua Sha method" can appear in the content, add a link. If this word cannot appear, then when recommending the article, it will be recommended. (2) When an article has a good ranking, it must be user-centered and consider user experience. The article with internal links must be highly relevant, and the link will be something users want to click. If you, as a user, don’t want to click on this link, then don’t add it.
Third: The more external links, the better
Anyone who does SEO knows that low-quality external links are basically no longer included in the ranking rules. However, I believe that many people have misunderstandings about low-quality external links. They think that irrelevant websites publish low-quality external links, but this is not the case.
Relevance The first thing to focus on is the relevance of the web page, not the relevance of the website. As long as the content we publish is highly relevant to the external link we want to do, this external link is considered a medium-quality external link. For example, if I publish an article about "What is Bianstone" in the A5 advertising area, and add a link to my Bianstone site, this external link is still a valid external link.
The so-called low quality refers to publishing irrelevant content with external links on irrelevant platforms. For example, I posted an article about mobile phones on A5, and then added a link to my stone in the article. Obviously, this link is a low-quality link.
It is certainly better to post external links on relevant websites, such as A5 and other webmaster sites, which publish website optimized external links. This is definitely the highest quality external link. However, most webmasters are engaged in B2C e-commerce, and relevant platforms are basically competitive. Even if the relationship is good, the number is extremely limited. In this situation where high-quality external links are limited, we are bound to publish some medium-quality external links on classification platforms, forums, etc. And the more external links, the better. As long as the content we publish on these platforms is relevant to our own website, it will be fine. Please consider why Baidu knows, encyclopedia, library, space and other content are complicated, but Baidu products are ranked on the search homepage for almost any keyword?
There are many factors that affect keyword ranking. I thought about it a lot after the ranking fluctuated. The above are the most important ones in my opinion. I wrote them down to share with everyone. If there is something incorrect, I hope everyone can give me some advice, communicate together, and make collective progress. My QQ: 285213379.
